Xbox One X and Xbox One S digital edition discontinued by Microsoft

Earlier there were reports from Press Start that the Xbox One X was no longer listed on Microsoft’s Australian website and the only other edition that was offered was the Xbox One S.

Later on in the day it was confirmed from The Verge that Microsoft is officially halting production of its Xbox One X and Xbox One S All-Digital Edition consoles. Here is a statement that the outlet received:

“As we ramp into the future with Xbox Series X, we’re taking the natural step of stopping production on Xbox One X and Xbox One S All-Digital Edition.”

With the Xbox Series X it makes sense to bring the primary focus for Microsoft to that console while they’ll still support users on Xbox One, they’ll be aiming to get all users to switch as time goes on. It was only in 2017 that Microsoft introduced the Xbox One X and it was marketed as the most powerful console which obviously won’t be the case with the upcoming generation.

It doesn’t come up as a huge shocker that Microsoft will be discontinuing some of their Xbox One product as this is expected when a new generation arises, but we didn’t expect it so soon.

Sony is reportedly to virtually double production for PlayStation 5 in anticipation for this holiday season

On July 23, Microsoft is hosting a Xbox Games Showcase at 12 PM ET where we can expect to see Halo Infinite and a lot more first party games.
