Reflecting back to May of this year, developer Zenimax Online Studio issued the latest expansion for The Elder Scrolls Online with Greymoor. The newest experience issues a return to Skyrim, the setting of 2011’s The Elder Scrolls V, dropping the player between a civil war between the vampire order of the region and the Dawnguard. But, of course, the content does not simply dry up there.

In a new announcement this past Tuesday, the developer returns once again to unveil the next major expansion for The Elder Scrolls Online – Blackwood. Similar to the previous add-on for the MMO, the game also takes place in the region of a previous title, The Elder Scrolls IV’s Cyrodiil. Set before the events of the 2006 game, venture to the Gates of Oblivion as you uncover the plans of yet another Daedric god in this year-long campaign.

You can watch the announcement trailer in the video below:

“Fire and ambition come to Tamriel with The Elder Scrolls Online: Blackwood, part of the Gates of Oblivion year-long adventure,” the synopsis for the expansion reads. “Explore the diverse region of Blackwood, gain powerful allies with the new Companions system, and uncover the terrible schemes of Mehrunes Dagon, Daedric Prince of Destruction, 800 years before the events of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion.”

And as always, pre-ordering the newest expansion also comes with in-game goodies. Pre-purchasing will provide players with Nagahide Welwa Ravager mount and Nightmare Bear Cub pet. But caution, these goodies are only valid until March 17 to redeem.

Elsewhere for Zenimax Online Studio initiatives, it is reported that the developer is working on a new AAA project. Team Lead Graphics Engineer Alex Tardif, while not revealing much, goes onto Twitter to verify the validity of the claim. You can read the full report by heading here.

Are you planning to return to Cyrodiil in Blackwood?

The Elder Scrolls Online: Blackwood arrives to PC & Stadia on June 2, 2021 and later for Xbox One and PlayStation 4 on June 8, 2021. The last-generation versions supports backwards compatibility for both systems respectively.
