Despite the lifespan of Xbox Game Pass which kicked off in 2017, the service has jumped beyond what many would never anticipated especially coming from a byproduct of the Xbox One generation. Although originally intended as a console service, the subscription has moved over to PC as well as cloud gaming AKA xCloud. This new technology has even went to the length to also include playing on other devices like smart fridges evidently.

But, what about other storefronts? Well, that certainly is a possibility. Previously, it was reported that Microsoft was working with Valve to incorporate its service into Steam. We already witnessed this with EA Access in the past – so it makes sense. However, this claim has never manifested despite the legitimacy of the source.

In a new interview with Valve founder Gabe Newell, he explains that the firm is not working to make the move for Xbox Game Pass to Steam. But, he is interested to make it a reality, he says.

I don’t think it’s something that we think we need to do ourselves, building a subscription service at this time. But for their customers it’s clearly a popular option, and we’d be more than happy to work with them to get that on Steam.

In the same statement, Newell does go on to elaborate on Valve’s behalf. Although the service business model is a hot trend that even Sony Interactive Entertainment is reportedly pursuing, the Steam firm is not eager to follow the same route. Which then goes on to lead to Newell’s interest to help integrate Microsoft’s Xbox Game Pass to the service instead.

Recently, Valve came up in conversation with its libraries possibly being included through other means. In that, Elon Musk explained an interest to bridge users libraries to Tesla firmware to play on the go. You can read the full report by heading here.
