In a recent interview with IGN, Todd Howard spoke about the performance of Starfield on Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S. Starfield will run in 4K resolution on Series X while on Series S it will run in 1440p. With that being said the game will run at 30fps so the game is consistent with performance.

Here is what Todd said to IGN in the interview:

“Fortunately in this one, we’ve got it running great. It’s often running way above that. Sometimes it’s 60. But on the consoles, we do lock it because we prefer the consistency”

After the recent controversies with Redfall many will be critical of this news with the frame rate being locked on consoles. With how visually Starfield will be this move makes sense and who knows if we’ll even notice it when we are traveling the planets.
