Red Dead Redemption Gets 60 FPS Option Via PlayStation 4 Version On PlayStation 5

When it comes to Rockstar Games, nothing in the industry has the developer jumping to make its next announcement. For the most part, it is common understanding that the firm can easily do as it pleases when it comes to announcements or any major releases. And that includes support for its titles as well. It took more than a year, but Grand Theft Auto V did officially come to Xbox Series & PlayStation 5.

Additionally, the same can also be said for its recent Red Dead Redemption release. In that, the PlayStation 4 & Nintendo Switch now have native ports of the game. And although the 2010 title is also playable for PlayStation 5 backwards compatibility, it is extremely parallel to the Xbox version out already. However, a new update does shake the bottle a little.

Update 1.03 rolled out for the PlayStation 4 version of the game which enables 60 frames per second support on PlayStation 5.

Now, this finally marks official 60hz support for Red Dead Redemption – after 13 years of releasing. Across all platforms until then, 30 frames per second was the standard. Now this leaves to question if the same update can be applied to Red Dead Redemption on Xbox. This does draw a bigger concern as the backwards compatibility service for Xbox is not a native build alike on PlayStation.

In the past, we’ve seen other Rockstar Games titles run at 30+ frames per second on Xbox. One being Grand Theft Auto IV: the game back on Xbox One X did entertain the idea of 60hz. But it wasn’t until the Xbox Series X that a locked 60 frames per second was standard for the Xbox 360 title. Howbeit, the game simply runs at a higher framerate without much intervention unlike Red Dead Redemption requires to implement.
