Reigniting many players nostalgia, developer Nightdive Studios remains the most prominent studio in remastering beloved entires in niché franchises. We saw this with prior work on titles like Star Wars: Dark Forces Remaster & Rise of the Triad alongside other IPs including Turok as well as System Shock. In Rectify Gaming’s review, we scored the remake a 8/10.

“In the modern era, the System Shock Remake stands as the de facto way to experience the malevolent AI’s reign of terror. With its faithful reimagining, Nightdive Studios pays homage to a game that shaped the immersive sim genre and solidifies SHODAN’s place as one of gaming’s most unforgettable villains. As we explore Citadel Station once again, we find ourselves caught between fear and fascination, just as we did nearly three decades ago.”

This week, Nightdive Studios returns to unveil that its current work on The Thing: Remastered is now ready and has suddenly shipped the modern port digitally across all major platforms. You can watch the new launch trailer in the video below:

“In keeping true to the spirit of one of the most iconic alien organisms in pop culture, The Thing: Remastered has emerged when you’d have least expected it. For the whole Nightdive crew, it has been an honor working with Universal and members of the original development team to not only remaster The Thing video game but deliver on the original vision for the game. We hope fans worldwide enjoy their return to Outpost #31,” says director of business development Larry Kuperman.

“In The Thing: Remastered, players step into the boots of Captain J.F. Blake, the leader of a United States Army Special Forces rescue team sent to investigate the blood-curdling events that transpired in the original The Thing film. Trapped by the elements and at risk of infection by a horrific entity, Blake must keep his squad together to survive by gaining their trust and ensuring that their fear and paranoia don’t get the best of them… or himself,” the synopsis for the game reads.
