Following the release of Disco Elysium in 2019, it was difficult to hear past the uproar for the inaugural release by ZA/UM. Winning awards for Fresh Indie Game, Best Indie Game, Best RPG, and Best Narrative at The Game Awards, the developer had a massive hit in its hands. In 2020, Variety reported that a television series is on the way for the IP too.
Despite the glowing response for Disco Elysium, the game was only unique to PC. In spring 2021, Disco Elysium received PlayStation 4 & PlayStation 5 versions of the game. And the Nintendo Switch release officially arrived in the form of ‘Disco Elysium – The Final Cut’ that October as well.
Now in a new announcement this week, ZA/UM reveals the next project underway from the developer. With a teaser for Project C4, it is said to be an espionage RPG with “mind-warping” aspects to be implemented. You can watch the trailer in the video below:
“My mind is eating itself. One hundred intelligence agents caught between its teeth. A crimson mist of deceit and paranoia. Conspiracies strangle this world. An irreversible ideology. A grand ceremony built just for you. Obliteration wears a rented suit. Get ready, operant. One last dance on the remains of your humanity,” the cryptic narration from the teaser shares.
“A mind-warping story of espionage and team-building in an original yet achingly familiar setting,” the description for the YouTube trailer reads. On LinkedIn, the developer phrases Project C4 as: “A mind-warping espionage RPG that blends player introspection, deep character-driven dialogue, and high-stakes encounters steered by dice rolls.”
