Sony has released its latest financial results for the three months ending March 31, 2025. The company announced that PlayStation 5 sales reached 77.8 million units worldwide since its release in 2020.

A total of 2.8 million PlayStation 5 consoles were sold during the previous three months that ended on March 31, 2025. That is surprisingly down 1.7 million from the same period of the previous fiscal year.

Sony also shared that there are 124 million monthly active users on the PlayStation Network, which is up six million from the previous fiscal year during the same period.

PS5 and PS4 software sales combined sold 76.1 million units during the three-month period ending on March 31. That is also up 3.5 million from the previous fiscal year. 5.9 million units were first-party titles, which is down from 12.3 million units sold during the same period of the previous fiscal year.

The PlayStation 5 has received a lot more support from other companies, including Xbox, which has released Forza Horizon 5 and Indiana Jones on the console. Lately, Xbox first-party games have led the way on the PlayStation Store as far as sales and pre-orders.
