When following the decisions of publisher Electronic Arts, many are usually against the firm despite the rich IPs in its possession. The most recent example is Codemasters. Although the firm pushed out EA Sports WRC in 2023, the developer appears to be restructuring its priorities. According a press release, the developer is taking a break from its current menu of racing simulators for other endeavors at Electronic Arts.

Additionally, the has extended to multiple teams at the publisher. Earlier this year, Electronic Arts shared that work ramping up for the next Battlefield has remained a priority for the firm. Enough to put Need for Speed on ice until further notice. One decision that has truly soured many players is the announcement in April of a new Titanfall internal project being canned. Bloomberg reports that ‘R7’ was the closest to a Titanfall 3 for the series.

However, Electronic Arts does not make bad decisions exclusively, it has proven. Earlier this month the publisher held is financial call for Q4 FY2025 and spoke on the matter of pricing for its games. Recently, Microsoft announced price increases for its hardware as well as accessories. Games also are to be more expansive with an $80 price tag. But, Electronic Arts will not be jumping on this new motion.

“In terms of pricing power, again, our business is very different today than it was even just 10 years ago. In a world where everything we did 10 years ago was about selling shiny disks and plastic boxes in retail shelves, well, that’s still a part of our business. It’s a significantly smaller part of our business, and we now have pricing represented everything from free to play all the way to deluxe editions and beyond,” CEO Andrew Wilson says.

“At the end of the day, whether we’re doing something that costs a dollar or we’re doing something that costs $10 or we’re doing something that costs $100, our objective is always to deliver incredible quality and exponential value for our player base.” Game pricing is a larger concern in this state of the global economy. Even some analysts are convinced $100 is possible with titles like Grand Theft Auto VI on the way. You can read the full report by heading here.
