The iconic video game series from Team17 Digital and Ghost Town Games, Overcooked, is being turned into a reality competition series on Netflix.
Deadline’s exclusive report confirms that A24 has acquired the rights to the cooking simulation game and teamed up with Netflix to develop “an unscripted series adaptation”. The goal of the Overcooked series on Netflix is to be similar to Floor Is Lava and Nailed It!
Gemma Langford, Oli De-Vine, and Phil Duncan are reported to be the executives producing the Overcooked TV show, with A24 and Ghost Town Games being involved.
Overcooked made its debut in 2016 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. It eventually made its way to the Nintendo Switch. The game was popular amongst streamers and friends, and family because it requires teamwork to make a certain number of entrees in a timed manner. It eventually received a sequel titled “Overcooked 2”.
