During December just a day following the annual Game Awards show, the partnered Steam Game Festival went live introducing a bevy of featured independently developed titles for that Friday and Saturday. The initiative is intended to open the horizon of potential groundbreaking releases from smaller developers to the Steam audience.

Following the positive reception of the first online-hosted event, another Steam Game Festival was later held in March doing the same lineup of independent releasing titles for more players to diversify their taste of games. Now leading close to the approaching summer, yet another internet-hosted event will be scheduled to take place this coming June.

Announced this week, the Steam Game Festival will be taking place the second week of June – the same timeframe that E3 was expected to be going on, but was canned due to the tensions surrounding the COVID-19 outbreak. Alike the preceding Game Festival that took place last month, players will have a full six days to demo some the newest independent games that will be releasing in the latter of 2020 and into next year.

With the announcement in mind, Steam did not go the lengths to mention what projects will be expected during the Summer Steam Game Festival later on. That is primarily due to the announcement being held more than a week before game submissions are finalized as the due date for interested developers is on April 24.

The Steam Game festival could not have been offered in a better time as players globally are still instructed to take post at home while the pandemic is still in effect among most nations around the world. Digital showcases are steadily becoming a norm in the industry such as the ‘Summer of Gaming’ which is slated to take place that same month. You can read the full announcement by heading here.

What games do you hope to see be showcased later this June?

Summer Steam Game Festival is said to take place from June 9 to June 14.
