After the success of Resident Evil 2 and the later release of Resident Evil 3, both remakes have shown to be a shoe-in for Capcom in further delivering quality to its users. To conjoin the two, it announced Resident Evil Re:Verse – a multiplayer experience where it pits players against one another as the heroes and adversaries of the two games.

In 2021, Capcom did originally schedule the game for a beta period so players can test the waters for Resident Evil Re:Verse. However, the wait wouldn’t be for at least another year. By that July, Capcom issued that Resident Evil Re:Verse wouldn’t release at least until 2022. It was not until Halloween that year that Resident Evil Re:Verse was officially playable.

According to a new update from Capcom, plans for Resident Evil Re:Verse includes shuttering the online experience later this summer. The details reveal that Resident Evil Re:Verse is planning to officially be no more on June 29th. At the beginning of this month, March 3rd, Capcom went ahead removing the game from storefronts and dismantled the option to purchase in-game.

“This is to inform you that service will be ending for Resident Evil Re:Verse, which comes packaged with a purchase of Resident Evil Village for PlayStation5, PlayStation4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, or Steam. The application and all of its related DLC will no longer be available for download or purchase,” Capcom writes in a statement in the update.

“Resident Evil Re:Verse was developed in celebration of the 25th anniversary of the Resident Evil series, and your overwhelming support for the game has far exceeded our expectations since the time of its release. Now that we’ve reached a new turning point for the series, we feel that Resident Evil Re:Verse has served its original, celebratory purpose admirably. We are incredibly grateful for your warm support for Resident Evil Re:Verse, and we deeply apologize for bringing you this disappointing news.”

Are you upset for the closing of Resident Evil Re:Verse?

Resident Evil Re:Verse is out now for Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC.
