When CD Projekt Red announced that Cyberpunk 2077 will be receiving an anime adaptation, it was at the height of the hype for the game. And while the title did manage to amount at the best-selling releases of the year with only three weeks remaining, it fell off following the ongoing complaints of the game’s state with bugs and issues especially on last-generation machines. But it was a cultural shift came Cyberpunk: Edgerunenrs.

Come September this past fall, Netflix introduced the latest Studio Trigger project which established more of the Cyberpunk universe to fans and new viewers. Following its release came a flood of fans pouring back into the game. But, it came as a surprise to discover a second season was not planned, one producer revealed.

Although nothing is fully established as of yet, CD Projekt Red does confirm in its recent earnings call that plans for more transmedia projects is an interest for the company, Video Game Chronicles transcribed.

We are not confirming any specific plans [for a] second season of Edgerunners or anything super specifically. We have an appetite to do more in the transmedia [space], so in linear visual animation or live action, and those plans have not changed, so when we are ready you may expect to see more announcements in that regard coming from us.
