Dune Awakening CHOAM Salvage Rights Event Guide

Discover everything you need to know about the Dune: Awakening CHOAM Salvage Rights Event, including how to complete all three contracts.

Funcom has launched a brand-new, limited-time live event ahead of the Lost Harvest DLC and major update, set to drop on September 10th. The event in Dune: Awakening has the player trying to recover CHOAM Cargo from downed cargo ships to win rewards. CHOAM freighters are being shot down at an alarming rate, and their cargo is up for grabs. This event, CHOAM Salvage Rights, marks the start of the content rollout with a limited-time event that ends when the update is released. In this guide, we’ll discover what the CHOAM Salvage Rights event has to offer and how to engage with this content in Dune: Awakening.

How to Start CHOAM Salvage Rights Event Quests in Dune: Awakening

Once you launch Dune: Awakening, you may notice that there’s no official notification for this global event. Get to the Anvil Tradepost in the Eastern Vermillius Gap to initiate the CHOAM Salvage Rights event. An NPC is standing beside the contracts board, who’s basically a CHOAM Representative. This NPC is available either at Arrakeen or Harko Village right when you enter, or at any of the respective trade posts in Hagga Basin. Completing the event allows you to earn cosmetic rewards, including weapon skins and a base decoration.

At the vendor, you can pick up three different contracts, all of which reward a small amount of XP and 4,500 Solari. You need to complete three contracts for the CHOAM Salvage Rights Event.

  • Retrieve CHOAM Cargo
  • Make Them Pay
  • Sabotage Kirab Placements

Retrieve CHOAM Cargo

This first contract requires you to loot CHOAM Cargo contract items. You can find them from either a chest at one of the Kirab Surface Air Emplacements or from the cargo holds of the new downed cargo ships. CHOAM ships are getting knocked out of the sky and onto the desert in Hagga Basin due to the Kirab missile launchers.

Make sure to land at the back of the CHOAM fallen ship. Scan and cut through two large doors before you to loot the chest at the end. You can acquire 1 to 2 pieces of CHOAM Cargo from each chest. Complete the quest after returning to any vendor to turn in the contract.

Make Them Pay

This contract is pretty simple, as you need to defeat only 25 Kirab enemies within the Western and Eastern Vermillius Gap regions. These enemies can also be found near the latest gun emplacements. A prompt will appear to turn in the quest without returning to the representative after killing 25 enemies.

Remember that these are not repeatable contracts, which is a missed opportunity to keep players continually engaged with this event over the next week.

Sabotage Kirab Placements

There are different Kirab Missile launchers/turrets placed, and they shoot everything down in the air. You need to use the Cutteray on the control panels of one of those turrets, allowing you to sabotage it and take it offline. Make your way to the Kirab missile launchers to dispatch one of the two Kirab. An icon will appear after approaching the missile launcher. This indicates that you can scan with your Cutteray.

The first thing to do is to scan and laser off the shield to interact with the launcher. You can turn this contract in without going back to the NPC. Make sure you eliminate all the Kirab enemies surrounding the turrets.

Dune: Awakening Salvage Rights Event Rewards

Get the cosmetic rewards by giving away the CHOAM Cargo to any of the contractors. As we mentioned earlier, CHOAM Representatives can be found at the Pinnacle and Anvil Tradeposts. Speak with them and choose the option ‘What do you have for sale?’, allowing you to interact with the shop menu.

  • CHOAM Tech Rifle Variant (25 CHOAM Cargo)- Acquire xosmetic for tech rifles
  • CHOAM Tech SMG Variant (25 CHOAM Cargo)- Give CHOAM styling to submachine guns
  • CHOAM Tech Sword Variant (25 CHOAM Cargo)- A Blade variant for melee players
  • CHOAM Tech Pistol Variant (25 CHOAM Cargo)- Sidearm cosmetic for pistols
  • Harkonnen Turret Statue (25 CHOAM Cargo)- Miniature base decoration, providing a unique look

Redeeming your Event Rewards

The rewards obtained are permanent and non-tradeable. Obtain 125 Cargo to unlock everything in the CHOAM Salvage Rights Event in Dune: Awakening. Take this back to the contractor at any location, and you will be able to buy five different cosmetic items. Don’t miss this opportunity to earn unique cosmetics for your gear. These skins are all awesome, but they massively missed the mark with the turret statue item. It would have been infinitely cooler to have it as a full-sized decoration for our bases to add something to enhance players’ builds.

The new crash ships are a very cool evolution of dynamic content within the game. These require you to approach them from the back, where there are two individual cargo pods. Cutteray cannot scan the weak points to cut open. If you run into that bug, you can just hold your laser on the surfaces.

Dune: Awakening New CHOAM Event Impact

The atmosphere of constant anti-aircraft fire and crashing ships continues to reinforce Dune: Awakening as one of the best atmospheric survival games. The skins for the weapons are great. The new crashed cargo ships are a bit more engaging than the more vanilla crash ship experience. Across the board, it makes the opportunity to get eaten by the worm much more likely.

With the big Chapter 2 update and DLC right around the corner, this event gives us a small taste of what the larger downed harvester mission will potentially bring to the game.

Conclusion

The CHOAM Salvage Rights event in Dune: Awakening gives thrilling runs. Each contract requires you to complete different tasks and gain Cargo CHOAM. Upon collecting all 125 cargo, you will complete the event and can earn the rewards from the NPC. Make sure to collect cargo in freighters, disable turrets, and eliminate Kirab. Use CHOAM cargo at the vendor at the Anvil Tradepost to earn exclusive rewards.
