Mirror’s Edge Catalyst has been delayed from its original release date, according to a press release from game producer Sara Jansson earlier today. Originally scheduled for release on February 23rd, that date has now been pushed back three months to May 24th.
“We’re building the most immersive action-adventure game with fluid movement and combat in first person. Mirror’s Edge Catalyst will be an all-new playground with a deeper and more engaging story – and we want to accomplish all these goals to the highest quality possible … We will use these few extra months to make sure that when you step into the massive City of Glass and experience the rise of Faith, it’s as entertaining, impressive, and memorable as it can be.”
Delays are certainly nothing new to game development, and the original announcement trailer for Mirror’s Edge Catalyst back in 2013 had nothing more than “when it’s done” for a release window. Ideally, the Mirror’s Edge Catalyst development team also read what we wrote here on RectifyGaming.com about the mistakes of the original Mirror’s Edge and our list of things Mirror’s Edge Catalyst must do in order to be successful, and delayed release to make the appropriate changes. Whatever the reason, parkour enthusiasts will have to wait a bit longer to put themselves in the iconic red, split-toed shoes of Faith, running across the City of Glass.
