2023, this year especially solidifies Square Enix’s continued support for the franchise. Last year, the publisher officially registered the release date of Final Fantasy VII, January 31st, as a recognized day in Japan. Twenty-five years later and the game still stands to be a staple for the Japanese firm. This is especially evident with the upcoming release of part two of three for the remake trilogy, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth.

Not only that, but this summer will mark the release of the next major installment for the series. Final Fantasy XVI is to hit PlayStation 5 and PC this June. Moreover, the game will stand as a limited-time exclusive for Sony’s console for six months. According to a promo for the game reveals that the arrangement only stands for half a year.

Now on March 2nd, another Final Fantasy release is here. But while published by Square Enix, the doing is of FuturLab’s PowerWash Simulator. In that, a new free DLC ‘Midgar Special Pack’ is here offering five new missions as players explore the Final Fantasy VII setting and deep clean structures from the 1997 classic.

“This new pack contains five levels set above and below the plate. Armed with your collection of high-pressure power washers, you’ll set to work clearing up the mess made by Midgar’s usual suspects – Don Corneo’s lackeys, Professor Hojo’s ‘specimens’ and Heidegger’s dangerous tech,” the blog post reads.

“You’ll accept jobs from both loyal members of Avalanche, and Shinra bigshots. As you clean, you’ll discover their stories through text messages. Of course, the city of Midgar is a far cry from the not-really-mean streets of Muckingham – you’ll have to contend with new dirt types, such as bio-residue, as you spray your way through some truly iconic locations.”

Similarly, FuturLab did the same approach for Tomb Raider before this. Although Square Enix did selloff the IP along with Crystal Dynamics earlier in 2022, the firm still arranged to feature a free DLC to powerwash Croft Manor. You can read the full report by heading here.

Are you tempted to return to PowerWash Simulator for the new DLC?

PowerWash Simulator is out now Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC.
