Developer WayForward in recent years has continued to engross its players with the now expanding River City Girls series. Following the roots of side-scrolling beat-em up titles like Double Dragon that came before it brings the genre to a new audience on newer hardware. And, this only propelled the series’ momentum with even more games that came after.
In 2021, WayForward announced both River City Girls Zero & River City Girls 2 – both proper entries for the established franchise bringing more to the IP as well as expanding on what the team learned moving ahead. However, what was not expected is a proper abridged DLC between both River City Girls and its most championed inspiration for the entirety of the series.
WayForward revealed that River City Girls 2 will be receiving a new add-on on November 12th which crosses the streams between both its title and Double Dragon. The new DLC includes both starring characters Billy & Jimmy Lee to River City Girls 2 with a wealth of other new content including a new vocal track, story campaign, and dojo master.
“The legendary Double Dragons, Billy and Jimmy Lee, are busting out of their dojos and joining River City Girls 2 as playable characters! These twin brothers jump into battle as distinctive fighters, ready to throw down with bone-shattering punches, kicks, slams, and special attacks – including trademark moves such as the Hurricane Kick and Rising Knee!” the official Steam page reads for the DLC.
“The bros are fully integrated into River City Girls 2’s story mode, complete with full voice overs, plus this premium DLC also adds an epic new vocal song and a new dojo master!” The page also goes on to list the complete list of contents for the DLC: “Playable Billy Lee; Playable Jimmy Lee; Full story integration with new voiceovers by Dan Avidan (Billy) and Arin Hanson (Jimmy); New vocal song performed by Hanson and Avidan, with music by RCG series composer Megan McDuffee; New dojo master Boro.”
