In anticipation for Google’s unnamed platform that could possibly be dropping sometime in the coming future, it seems that some rumors have spawned around the discussion of the tech giant entering the console market. One being that Sega potentially teaming up with Google to work towards the reveal of the leaked platform.

This comes from the YouTube Channel Spawn Wave, where host Johnathan Downey shared that the Sonic the Hedgehog publisher could be creating a partnership with Google to help create titles for when the system is ready to launch. Expanding on the concept that this will be Sega’s step back into the console market without developing the console themselves, but rather play as an first party developer for the platform.

But other than that, there isn’t much real tangible evidence surrounding the chances that this information is legitimate. But for one way that this rumor could actually be factual is that Sega currently does not have a platform when announcing their titles and the publisher could use Google’s console as a milk crate to announce to the masses their next project.

On top of Sega’s possible partnership, it was also shared by Downey that Ubisoft might collaborate with Google as well for the new hardware as well. This actually holding some foundation as Ubisoft has already partnered with Google for Project Stream which was revealed back in September to stream Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey through Google Chrome.

For when gamers might expect the Google console to be announced could be sooner than we expect. Many looking towards the GDC event hosted by the tech company later on March 18th at GDC. And what really supports this is the resurfacing patent for the Google controller which got a second filed trademark the same month Project Stream was announced. But this is all just speculation as of currently, so don’t take this as fact until either of the mentioned company’s confirm this as fact or not.

How do you feel about Sega possibly teaming up with Google if this rumor ends up being true? Let us know in the comments down below!
