Since the official cancellation of this year’s Electronic Entertainment Expo, we have witnessed annual attending firms share alternative approaches to the circumstance that arose from the novel coronavirus. Such as PC Gamer which shared to be carrying on with its yearly press conference through the confines of the internet.
However, others such as Bethesda that announced to be scratching its annual E3 Showcase rather than planning a alternative digital show. The publisher since then have rode along with other showcases like the most recent PlayStation 5 presentation to feature some titles that will be launching uniquely on the coming next-generation console first for a limited time.
But one company that has not properly spoken out about its plans for this year is Square Enix. The Japanese publisher alike the others mentioned did not disclose publicly whether there will be a coming event or not. While the firm has attended the same PlayStation 5 showcase as Bethesda, that does not negate the possibility the firm would be sharing its new lineup of titles later on.
According to an stockholders meeting reported by Livedoor.jp, Square Enix is looking towards next month in July and following into August to feature some of its unannounced properties initially scheduled to be announced at E3 prior to its cancelling.
We would normally announce new games at E3, yes. We had planned to have a press conference as a replacement event, but were unable to do so since assets were not complete. We’ll be announcing new titles individually as the timing permits. Several will debut around July to August.
With all titles being on the verge of announcement, there is no public knowledge to determine what will be shared in the coming weeks. So that includes the recently announced Project Athia that the firm revealed two weeks ago. Instead, there will be new installments inbound for reveal or completely new properties that the publisher is preparing to announce later on.
Predicting how Square Enix will hand out announcements, the firm could simply allow the respected developers announce the game themselves with a heightened platform. But if the reveals are spread across two months, the publisher could take Microsoft’s approach and host showcases similar to Xbox 20/20’s monthly structure.
What do you hope to see be announced from Square Enix in the coming weeks?
