If you are a Nintendo fan, you should be well acquainted with the fact that the firm has yet to properly host a formal Nintendo Direct in nearly a year now. The last official, full length presentation was held last September which has left followers of the platform worried for how information will be dealt from the company. While the console giant can simply announce details as they come, its user base illustrates its preference for an online showcase.

Elaborating on the future for the Nintendo Direct, Video Game Chronicles reported from a shareholder meeting that the publication translated disclosing that Nintendo could be doing away with the presentation format altogether. In that, the firm is aiming to evolve how information is established publicly and that could leave Nintendo Directs behind.

Howbeit, there is the possibility that a presentation is on the horizon for this week. According to Venture Beat’s Jeff Grubb, Nintendo is scheduling to host a Nintendo Direct this coming Friday, he tells during the most recent GamesBeat Decides podcast.

I’ve heard a few things and I think there’s a strong possibility that there is a Nintendo Direct next week, on Friday [August 28]. That’s the date I’ve heard.

Adding on, Grubb also tells that Nintendo is looking to offer insight on the next Partner Showcase fairly soon. This happens to be a more tangible claim since Nintendo has been reported previously to be hosting several more collaborative presentations as told following the first one held last month.

As for the foundation to support the claim of this week’s alleged Nintendo Direct, Grubb pairs what he heard from the grapevine with his intuition to be a sturdy enough base. He goes on to elaborate that the company aims to offer the presentation ahead of the coming investors meeting set for next month. “I think that it makes a lot of sense for them to get a Direct out of the way before that [investors meeting] happens, so they don’t have to answer questions like, ‘what games are coming up?’”.

Even more suspicion to the claim is that following Grubb’s statement, Niko Partners’ David Ahmad happened to retweet an article on the possible event. Ahmad is recognized to be correct with prior Nintendo claims, so this could be the likeliest chance for a Nintendo Direct to be held as of yet.

Grubb previously offered information on June’s Nintendo Direct accurately when the presentation never arrived. Stating that the firm could host a showcase later in the summer, it looks this coming Friday might be what he was implying. You can read the full report by heading here.

What do you hope to see from this supposed Nintendo Direct if it ends up happening?
