Our Review Scores Explained
Rectify Gaming’s goal is to provide the most upfront and honest insights on video games and peripherals. Our reviews are handled by individuals on our team who have the best experience with specific game genres, so we can provide the best insight we can.
We only review complete games. However, if we happen to review an Early Access game, it will be mentioned in the title of the review.
Since 2013, Rectify Gaming has assessed a 10-point review system with 1 being Terrible and 10 being a Perfect Score. You might wonder how our scoring works, and we are here to describe what each score range means.
1 – 3: Terrible, Don’t Waste Your Time
This is the lowest score any game could receive. It’s most likely a game you’ll want to stay away from, has no redeeming qualities, and provides a complete negative experience.
4: Below Average
While the game is playable, it still has subpar features. Stay away from games that score this low until you see a big sale.
5: Average
This is the average score we will provide. These games don’t stand out amongst their similar games.
6 – 7: Above Average
This score range features more positives than negatives and is generally recommended to play. It’s still a good game to play, but not top of the genre, and could still be missing some key features.
7.5 – 8.5: High Score – Highly Recommended
This score indicates at least one negative feature or may not have enough features to take it over the top, but it’s at the precipice of the height of its genre.
9 – 9.5: Best of its Genre
A score of this type is without a doubt a must-play and has essentially zero negative features. It may have some minor features that hold it back. Any fan of this game’s genre should play this game.
10: Perfect
To get this score, the game has no negative features, and it’s among the best games in its genre. It sets the standard of what a perfect game should be. It provides a flawless experience from story to gameplay, to fantastic visuals, and more.
