Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic – Remake Welcomes New Talent As Development Is Handed To Saber Interactive, Says Report

Although fans remain tame in terms of now knowing there is a remake in development for Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, the idea sitting in the back of your head certainly brings excitement regardless. It was back in September 2021 that Sony Interactive Entertainment revealed the first teaser for the project. At the time of the announcement, it was listed solely for PlayStation 5.

However, a new report enlightened on the matter. In that, the game was later discovered to be a timed exclusive for the latest PlayStation according to parent company Embracer Group. Additionally, with such an ambitious game, it was not too surprising to learn that the game faced some delays intenrally as it was reported by Bloomberg previously.

But, what surprises many is finding out that Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic – Remake is now receiving a new team altogether. In a new story from Bloomberg once more, the game once helmed by Aspyr Games – notable for recent nostalgic remasters of other Star Wars releases – is now being handed to Saber Interactive instead.

Noted, the report does play in part with Embracer Group recently suggesting as much. In a press release published last week, the firm goes on to state one unnamed property is changing hands without naming the project or the involved parties. “One of the Group’s AAA projects has transitioned to another studio within the Group. This was done to ensure the quality bar is where we need it to be for the title.”

Although there is a new team at large for Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic – Remake, there is another AAA Star Wars game releasing next year. From Respawn Entertainment, the developer plans to ship Star Wars Jedi: Survivor sometime in 2023. You can read the full report by heading here.
