Upon release of Cyberpunk 2077, the game’s state of play was questionable depending on the platform. For one, PC was not as malleable right out of the gate. And by that I mean native mod support was not out of the door for the new release. It was not until late January a month later that CD Projekt Red officially enable the feature.

From there, users went on to open more opportunities like third-person mode and the cut Judy relationship arc which was not included in the full release. Additionally, this also helped users on the platform soften the blow of the rougher edges of the game which was shipped by the developer. For console users, this was not applied until the next-gen update arrived featuring a slew of in-game improvements.

This week, CD Projekt Red announced its launch for a native Cyberpunk 2077 mod suite allowing more seamless mod support for the game than before. The team calls this ‘REDmod’ which acts as a free DLC on Steam, Epic Games Store, and GOG. The tool essentially acts as a launcher for user-created content and comes with new tools also.

“It makes adding and using new mods easier. The game still supports loading old mods from the archive folder, but please keep in mind that they will not appear in the REDmod menu. New, REDmod compatible mods should be added using the new mods folder for the best experience,” CD Projekt Red explains for hardened creators when approaching the new suite.

As for other announcements revolving around Cyberpunk 2077, the Polish game studio recent shipped the ‘Edgerunners’ update for the game. With that comes new cosmetics, weapons, and gigs based off the upcoming Netflix anime series. The title update also includes cross-progression as it marks the last major patch for last-generation systems.

Looking ahead, the Phantom Liberty DLC has been teased. This will feature a new district coming to Night City and also include the return of Keanu Reeves’ Johnny Sliverhand when it arrives later on in 2023. You can read the full report by heading here.
