Once a PlayStation pillar, Quantic Dream in 2020 shifted to being independent as many of its IPs arrived to PC. The following year, Quantic Dream revealed that in a collaboration with Lucasfilms Games, it would be creating its own Star Wars release – Star Wars: Eclipse. However, that was just the first phase of things in motion for the developer.

The following year, Quantic Dream shared plans to be acquired by NetEase Games. The opportunity opens more room for the firm to work on projects with additional resources. What came to be a surprise was when the upcoming Star Wars title would release. As per one report, it was disclosed Quantic Dream aims to ship Star Wars: Eclipse sometime in 2026 – roughly five years from the initial announcement.

And while we are months away from 2026, Quantic Dream presses on its current in-house efforts. Although verifying development is progressing for Star Wars: Eclipse, it announces a new project is on the way in a free-to-play effort: Spellcaster Chronicles. You can watch the reveal trailer in the video below:

The game is described as “a free-to-play, team-based, 3rd-person action-strategy game inspired by MOBAs.” The description continues: “Embody a mage commander and unleash chaos on the battlefield by summoning hordes of creatures and casting powerful spells in this multiplayer game where strategic play, skill, and creativity are rewarded.”

Studio head David Cage in a press release said: “After years as a single-project studio, we also decided to take a new step. Multiple teams are fully dedicated to crafting the next generation of great games, including something very different, a competitive multiplayer experience, born from the same spirit of curiosity and creativity that has always defined us. This new title may surprise our fans as it is very different from what we have done so far. But taking risks, challenging ourselves, exploring new ways of playing and telling stories, and attempting what seems impossible, has always been part of our DNA.

“We also know how demanding it is to create something new. Earning the trust of players, standing out in such a competitive space, and introducing fresh concepts is incredibly challenging. And since we have no legacy in this genre, we know we have everything to prove — which is why your support and feedback will be essential. Together, we believe we can create something truly unique. Of course, development of Star Wars: Eclipse continues, and we are eager to share more with you in the future.”
