Ever since the debut of the Xbox One console, the interface has been met with a handful of different changes and updates that have started to show the age of the platform as it could be seen as unidentical compared to what was initially introduced back in late-2013. Now today, Microsoft has revealed in the latest Xbox Wire blog post that yet another change to the console’s UI will be coming in the next update.

Currently, Xbox Insiders will have access to the upcoming interface as the new layout is still in development and has plenty of tweaking to be done before being let into the wild. Those part of the Alpha and Alpha Skip Ahead portion of the Insiders program are currently testing the waters for the new interface.

Xbox Insider Team Lead Bradley Rossetti on the new look for the Xbox One dashboard:

With this new experimental Home design, the first thing you’ll notice is we’ve removed the Twists from the top of Home in favor of separate buttons that launch your gaming experiences. The goal is to let you jump into Xbox Game Pass, Mixer, Xbox Community and Microsoft Store quicker than ever. We’ve also shifted things around to make more room for your recently played titles.

Another change that will be taken into effect is the option for voice commands regarding Microsoft’s AI Cortana. Rossetti stating that Cortana will not be activated through connected headsets, resulting with the change pointing towards the titular app on mobile devices or through a Harmon Kardon Invoke speaker to use voice commands for the console.

Rossetti upon sharing the new dashboard clarified that those in Alpha ring will not be able to access the virtual keyboard with the current build for the upcoming interface, but reassures Insiders that “our team is working to provide an alternative solution and will have more details to share soon.” The updated dashboard is said to be available to all Xbox One owners later this Fall.

Are you excited for the new interface or do you prefer what is currently available?
