Console integration of popular social media platforms and streaming applications have been key towards how players share their experience on the internet if not using an external capturing system or service. And while I do share my complaints with some of these apps on traditional gaming hardware – it is nice to have the option overall, however, that will be limited to PlayStation 4 users.

Sony announced today that support for Facebook on PlayStation 4 will be removed which affects a handful of features for those who use the app on Sony’s platform. Starting today, players will no longer be able to link their Facebook account to their PlayStation Network ID and no real reason for why has yet to be disclosed by either parties.

What this means for users on PlayStation 4 is that the option to share game footage, images, music, or unlocked trophies to Facebook will not be available following the sudden change of tides. Other integrated features like adding PlayStation 4 owners through Facebook will also be removed as well.

As for the friends you have already added through the Friend Finder feature on Facebook, Sony suggests that you select a different avatar for you PlayStation profile as the initial Facebook image will no longer be available to view alongside a tutorial on how to do so.

Did you use Facebook integration on PlayStation 4?
