In this last week alone, nearly a handful of companies have decided to reorganize their plans or completely pull from this year’s annual Penny Arcade Expo (PAX) East show in Boston, Massachusetts. The first instance came from Sony Interactive Entertainment who decided it would be west for the safety of the team attending the event to skip the convention as stress builds around the coronavirus outbreak.

Following by Capcom who later disclosed to be cancelling the ‘Monster Hunter Fiesta’ which takes place at PAX East – essentially confirming the company will be absent as well. Even Square Enix decided it would be best for the company to withhold developers flying from Japan to the event as raising concerns continue to inflate.

Now according to CD Projekt Red’s North American Head of Communications, Stephanie Bayer shared on Twitter today that the developer has decided to cancel the team’s visit to Boston this coming weekend.

The COVIN-19 illness has become a great threat on the planet’s population following the first bundle of cases that originated in mainland China. Since then, there have been scattered instances of the coronavirus being intercepted from other nations across the globe. Currently, the three epicenter countries reported to have the highest amount of related diagnosis is China, Japan, and Italy.

Witnessing now yet another game developer pulling its attendance from the show for this week, it is expected that possibly more will do the same coming closer to the commencement of the event. Playing video games is one thing, but ensuring the safety of others is a bigger concern for the time being until this outbreak settles down.

Do you plan on going to PAX East this weekend?

PAX East 2020 is set to arrive between February 27, 2020 and March 1, 2020.
