Cosmetic-Only Microtransactions Confirmed For Wolfenstein: Youngblood

This past E3 Bethesda showcased their coming lineup of titles that will are set to release in the coming months. Games such as Doom Eternal or the approaching Wolfenstein: Youngblood which will soon be available in the following month. Amid the title’s coming release, Bethesda updated the game’s social page which gives some insight on the new title.

One element new to the Wolfenstein formula is microtransactions, which will make this the time the pay feature will be present in the franchise. But don’t jump to conclusion so soon as Bethesda has clarified that there will be now lootboxes; AKA no pay-to-win mechanic will be present in the game, only for cosmetic purposes.

Reading the game’s FAQ, the question is asking if lootboxes will be in the game, where the developer left the response that the “in-game store will not contain lootboxes.” However, the same page also commented on microtransactions, which reads:

Players will be able to purchase cosmetic items to bring originality to their favorite Blazkowicz twin.

As for pricing of the cosmetic microtransactions that will be in the coming title, Bethesda nor game studio MachineGames revealed how much each item will be or if the character items will be priced in packs.

Previously, MachineGames revealed that the developer got an extra hand from Dishonored studio Arcane Studios to help with creating the level layout for the majority of the co-op Nazi shooter.

Wolfenstein: Youngblood will be available on July 29, 2019 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
