Earlier this year, Sloclap shipped its latest release – Rematch. While viewed as a standard soccer release, innovation from the developer delivered an energetic change of pace from typical expectations. The game shipped on Xbox Game Pass earlier this August and has remained in conversations in the weeks following. Also, a physical release is expected to come later in November as well.

From our review for Rematch, Rectify Gaming scored the new Sloclap title an 7.5/10. “Rematch is a soccer sim with arcade soul, a competitive beast dressed in cleats, and an early access title that could very well score big, if it keeps its foot on the gas and listens to its fans. For now, it’s not quite the beautiful game, but it’s definitely a beautiful start.”

This week, a new update goes live for Rematch which introduces crossplay to its lobbies as Season 1 officially arrives. You can watch the new trailer in the video below:

“With over 6 million players, over 100 million hours and 525 million matches played, Season 0 has been both incredible and humbling for the Sloclap team. A whole competitive scene has emerged, with teams created, tournaments organized, mechanics dissected and this is a huge motivation for the team to keep improving the game in all dimensions,” CEO Pierre Tarno shares in a statement.

“Season 1 also launches with fixes and balancing to player locomotion, improving reactivity and precision, while nerfing certain exploits such as the infamous “Ippy Slide”. Goalkeeper dives have been reworked to make them more effective against volleys. Skill-based matchmaking parameters are now stricter, especially in ranked matches, ensuring more evenly matched teams,” the press release adds.

Are you planning to try crossplay in Rematch?

Rematch is out now for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC.
