While the Nintendo Switch exclusive library of titles was already occupied with prominent releases like The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Super Mario Odyssey, it was in 2019 that Marvelous & Xseed Games shipped Daemon X Machina for the system. In a mecha-like fashion, players would helm these robotic war machines and head to battle against other mechanized vessels.
In less than a year, however, it was later discovered that Daemon X Machina will also be delivered to Steam as well. The announcement goes on to break the initially unique ties to Nintendo Switch as the game hits a new platform. Additionally, Marvelous scheduled a one year anniversary update for Daemon X Machina which incorporates new content for the game.
From a discussion with Marvelous Producer Kenichiro Tsukuda during the Daemon X Machina 2nd Anniversary Livestream, he shares the teams ambition to work on a second game which Games Talk transcribes and Gematsu translated.
While this isn’t really an announcement, I’d like to make a strong declaration as we end here that we’re going to make a sequel—a “2.” I’m motivated, and we’ll need time to do various testing and consider what’s next, so I think it’ll take a bit of time, but I’d like to bring some new people onboard, and since the content of the game itself will gradually change—as things do with the times—I wonder what direction we should take? I’d like to start from there. I’ve made the declaration, but it’s going to take some time.
Gathered from Tsukuda’s statement, it appears that the presumed titled Daemon X Machina 2 is still in the early concept stages. Although plenty of the assets from the first game will likely return in the sequel, there are plenty of new additions that the team will want to work and test for the full release of the new game.
Previously, Grasshopper Manufacture director Goichi Suda commented on the future of No More Heroes. While he is adamant to work on a new game, Suda discloses that the fate of the franchise lies in Marvelous’ hands that owns the IP. You can read the full report by heading here.
