Documents have leaked from the Microsoft v. FTC Case along with email interactions involving Phil Spencer and others around the industry. Leaks shared the Xbox Series XlS mid-generation refresh will be released in Fall 2024 with a new controller and plans for a next-generation Xbox in 2028. Emails featuring Phil Spencer shared how the company had an interest in acquiring Nintendo back in 2020.
The Xbox Chief said, “if any US company would have a chance with Nintendo we are probably in the best position”. Spencer also talked about how their Board of Directors is fully supportive of acquiring Nintendo and potentially Valve if the opportunity comes up.

At the end of the email Phil Spencer sent he says “At some point, getting Nintendo would be a career moment and I honestly believe a good move for both companies. It’s just taking a long time for Nintendo to see that their future exists off of their own hardware. A long time….”

It’s clear Microsoft has a list of companies they’ve wanted to acquire, but obviously some of them haven’t been processed. The recent acquisition Microsoft is trying to close on is Activision Blizzard which could be closed by mid-October.
