There have been some controversies about Microsoft taking their main interests into the PC world, and straying from the Xbox One. Phil Spencer on the other hand says other wise. On an interview with VentureBeat, Phil talked about how in short term the main focus is on the Xbox One, and how Xbox will have a “nice” E3. And the next focus is how to integrate Xbox and PC gaming more closely.
“In the near term, our focus is on the Xbox console. We’re going to have a nice E3. The next focus is how we come to desktop. I’ll call it that. A lot of our franchises map better to desktop. A lot of our players play on both console and desktop. So let’s go after that and see what issues we run into, like control or voice communication or cross-buy, things we’re trying to enable. Let’s solve one big issue first and then look at the next wave of touch in mobile as a place we can go,”
Phil also talked about the future of Xbox, like integrating Cortana, cross-play, and more. He also talked about possibilities , like Xbox One 1.5, which Phil has been back on forth about. And how to make the gaming experience better on the Xbox One, such as g-sync, mod support, and more.
Clearly for now Microsoft have Xbox as their main interest, but only expanding that interest into the PC world. It doesn’t mean that Microsoft will not move away from the Xbox in the future, but for now we can know that we don’t have to worry about PC getting all the attention.
I really recommend reading the interview if you want to know what Phil Spencer has to say about almost everything related to Xbox and its future. Click here if you want to learn more.
