Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack Welcomes Virtual Boy To ‘Nintendo Classics’ In February 2026

The ongoing subscription that is Nintendo Switch Online continues to grow as the years proceed. Earlier this year, the subsequent Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack welcomed yet another beloved Nintendo console to its library – Nintendo Game Cube. A new incentive available only on Nintendo Switch 2, there is also an updated controller as well available for the console.

Now at the Nintendo Direct this Friday, it is officially revealed that the newest addition will be Virtual Boy. Even more is a new peripheral required for the new library is also needed to play on both Nintendo Switch & Nintendo Switch 2. “Select games from Nintendo’s stereoscopic 3D system, Virtual Boy, are coming to Nintendo Classics exclusively for Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack members. To play, you’ll need Joy-Con or Joy-Con 2 controllers and the dedicated accessory based on the original Virtual Boy hardware – stereoscopic 3D included – when inserting the Nintendo Switch 2 or Nintendo Switch system,” Nintendo reveals in the press release.

“The accessory needed to play Virtual Boy – Nintendo Classics, as well as a cardboard version, will be available to pre-purchase on the My Nintendo Store in the future.” Unlike Nintendo Game Cube on Nintendo Switch Online, Virtual Boy will not be exclusive to Nintendo Switch 2. Both provided accessories will be compatible with each respective console.
