This year’s Game Awards hosted by Geoff Keighley was slated for December 12th back in September as the hosted revealed that the annual show ceremony will be returning to the Microsoft Theater later this year. Now with a scheduled date, the only thing left was the nominations to be decided, which was expected to arrive later on as the decisions for this year’s categories were still developing.

Reeling into to last week, Keighley announced that the nominees for next month’s awards show were being finalized and scheduled to go live for fan voting that coming Tuesday. And just at 12 PM EST today, voting has gone live with 29 different categories to vote for. An interesting choice for this year’s polling, the show decided to host voting via Google rather than through their home-brewed website.

Each segment is as expected from this year’s set categories: such as Best Narrative, Best Mobile Game, Best Multiplayer, and even Best Esports Team. Of course, the notorious Game of the Year has also been release listing six games for the award:

  • Control
  • Death Stranding
  • Resident Evil 2
  • Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice
  • Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
  • The Outer Worlds

However, despite the ranging list of highly-anticipated titles to vote for this year’s category, users have already claimed that other titles should have been ranked over others for the award. Such as Luigi’s Mansion 3, Devil May Cry V, or Borderlands 3. Regardless, the remainder of the ballots for each category does show to give attention to some of the games that deserve an award, and there were a lot of games this year.

Some of my votes went to Devil May Cry V for Best Score/Music, Control for Best Audio Design, and Sayonara Wild Hearts for Best Art Direction. You can submit your votes by heading here.

Prior to fan voting finally going active today, Keighley announced that selected theaters will be hosting viewings for next month’s awards event to broadcast the event live. Do you plan on watch the show at home or somewhere else?

The Game Awards will commence on December 12, 2019.
