With E3 just passing this June and the next wave of titles are upon us from publisher Ubisoft, it’s time for the company to review how the current line of games have performed for the first financial quarter of 2019. Now that the financial report has gone live, it shows that Ubisoft have exceeded all expectations that were aimed for the publisher.

According to the report, PC overtook the most the quarter as the most profitable platform for Ubisoft with a 10% growth to 34% compared to last year’s first quarter report. Consoles followed with PlayStation 4 at 31%, Xbox One with 18%, and Nintendo Switch at 5%. Ultimately a surprise for the publisher as typically first-party hardware stands over PC when reflecting to previous reports.

In a statement from Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot states that targeted sales were met and more with Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey and Rainbow Six Siege.

Our first-quarter net bookings came in well above target, thanks to the very robust performance of our games ‒ notably Rainbow Six Siege and Assassin’s Creed Odyssey ‒ and a very strong increase in player recurring investment for PCs and consoles, led by record-high engagement levels per player. As well as this very good start to the fiscal year.

However, Guillemot did leave out the more recent The Division 2 as the financial report shares the looter shooter to be “the industry’s biggest hit since the beginning of the year.” Especially seeing the praise for the title from both consumers and reviewers, this does seem to align with the current status of the game.

And with Ubisoft soon to debut Uplay+ for PC later this year, the numbers currently recorded for the platform could potentially continue to grow seeing what is promised from the new game service from the publisher.

Where do you stand for your platform of choice when it comes to Ubisoft games?
