In Red Dead Redemption 2, after you complete the first mission of Chapter 2, Polite Society, Valentine Style, you’ll have the option of going on to a new mission or exploring the world. While you’re in Valentine, there is a mission at the Saloon with Javier that involves a bar fight.
How long is the Americans at Rest mission?
This mission in Red Dead Redemption 2 is relatively short. It could take only up to 10 minutes max if you include the cutscenes, and if you have any difficulties fighting.
Americans At Rest Guide
Head to the Saloon, which is located in Valentine. On the map, you’ll see a yellow ‘JE’ icon for Javier Escuella. Walk into the Saloon and go to the left, where you’ll see Javier with a few ladies. A cutscene will trigger, then a bar fight will break out.
Once the bar fight starts, you’ll automatically walk towards a brawler. Beat him up, grapple him, and try to eventually choke him. Next, help the gang defeat the brawlers. Tommy will come down the stairs and target Javier. There will be someone who tries to choke you. Break free from him and intervene between Tommy and Javier.
Tip: While fighting, you can heal yourself if you bring up the item wheel and use any consumable if you have some.
Tommy will throw you out a window, putting you in the mud with a crowd surrounding the fight. Fighting the large brawler will be difficult. He tends to block well. If you get close to him, he will grab and throw you to the ground.
When fighting Tommy, try to punch him a few times and grapple him. You will know you have him beat when he is on the ground, and you’ll be able to beat him repeatedly. After a few beatdowns, a civilian will stop you from fighting, confirming you won the brawl against Tommy.
After the altercation, Josiah Telawny will make an appearance. You have now completed the Americans at Rest mission.
How To Unlock Gold Medal In Americans at Rest
There are two gold medal objectives in this mission in Red Dead Redemption 2. They are time-based, so you’ll have to be fast:
- Save Javier within 15 seconds
- Defeat Tommy within 1 minute and 30 seconds
