
To the diehard Playdead fans behind the games Limbo and Inside, the next title is still underway as the developer is quietly working on its next major nuance release. Previously, it was reported that the game studio has agreed with Epic Games to help publish a new title from Playdead. However, it was not clarified if said project is the current endeavor or a new IP that will be worked on after.
But in regards to the next release from Playdead, new details did surface from one job listing. In that, the upcoming project is told to be “a 3rd person, open world, science fiction adventure.” But, no additional information help elaborates on the title more. Regardless, now fans have learned a new game is on the way from developer Jumpship, however, dome Playdead DNA is in the game.
During the recent Xbox-Bethesda E3 Showcase, developer Jumpship announced Somerville. You can watch the announcement trailer in the video below:
“In the wake of catastrophe you must find the means to make your family whole again. Somerville is a Sci-Fi adventure grounded in the intimate repercussions of large scale conflict,” the press kit for Jumpship shares on Somerville. “Immerse yourself in a hand-crafted narrative experience set across a vivid rural landscape. Navigate your way through the perilous terrain ahead of you to unravel the mysteries of Earth’s visitors.”
Elsewhere in the Xbox Wire blog post, it is shared that Playdead co-founder Dino Patti alongside Chris Olsen are to be working on the new project. Currently, the game is only projected to ship next year. But, it will be available day one for Xbox Game Pass.
