In August 2019 it was announced that Sony Interactive Entertainment acquired Insomniac Games who are known for creating titles such as Ratchet & Clank, Spiderman, and Xbox One exclusive known as Sunset Overdrive.

According to a filing made today with the US securities and exchange commission, the total acquisition of Insomniac cost Sony ¥ 24,895 million ($229 million) with the majority paid in cash.

The acquisition never came as a major surprise to many fans as Sony has been working closely with Insomniac for a while dating back to 1994 when the game studio was founded.

A burning question for fans is if Sony will do anything with Sunset Overdrive as they now own the IP. It might be wise for them to possibly think about a sequel to the original that launched in 2014 on Xbox One.

Are you shocked about the price Sony bought Insomniac at?
