Sony Reveals Ghost Of Yotei Sales At Better Pace, Outperforming The Previous Ghost Of Tsushima

Just this past fall, Sucker Punch Productions has already delivered another impressive hit with Ghost of Yotei. Despite the shoes to be filled from 2020’s Ghost of Tsushima, it still received a 9.5/10 scored in our review. “Ghost of Yotei is the rare sequel that understands what made its predecessor special and builds upon it exceptionally. Atsu’s revenge tale might hit predictable notes, but the journey transcends its familiar narrative through unparalleled player freedom.”

Following the game’s release, Ghost of Yotei has remained in conversations as developer Sucker Punch Productions also promised its own ‘Legends’ release for the title too. At the recent PlayStation State of Play, the team was present to showcase Ghost of Yotei: Legends. The new co-op experience is coming next month to PlayStation 5. The DLC will be a free update to all owners of the base game.

Even more, there was also an update on how Ghost of Yotei has been performing as of late. In the recent Sony earnings call, it was disclosed that the recent release is already tracking to perform better than the previous Ghost of Tsushima title. Via a transcription from Video Game Chronicle, the firm said the game “exceeded the sales of the previous title in the same period of time.” 

Given how the game is already outperforming its predecessor, it is no doubt that Sony Interactive Entertainment is already preparing for more platforms that Ghost of Yotei can come to. Just like Ghost of Tsushima, a PC version of the game is likely in the pipeline for a release in 2026. With an in-house partner like Nixxes, the chances fans will see an update soon is in their favor.

As for success under the PlayStation umbrella, it was revealed that God of War is currently its most-popular IP for the platform. Among the list of other prominent franchises like Marvel’s Spider-Man & MLB The Show, Sucker Punch Productions’ ‘Ghost’ was only categorized as an “emerging IP” then.
