The upcoming title from recently acquired Microsoft studio Obsidian Entertainment, The Outer Worlds, is inbound to launch sometime down the line for 2019, and there’s still a lot we have yet to learn about the new game. But with confidence in the title’s studio, many rest assured that the game will be one enjoyable title when Obsidian is ready to release more in the coming months.

Recently, Obsidian Entertainment’s Tim Cain and Leonard Boyarsky spoke on The Game Informer Show to discuss the anticipated game and teased possibly a survival mode for the intergalactic role playing title. Sharing that players who prefer a challenge will have the option to choose a difficulty that will deal the more hardened experience.

The difficulty mode dubbed as “Supernova” will throw obstacles for players to hurdle such as worrying about hunger, dehydration, and fatigue. Unable to resolve any of these problems among other related issues will penalize players with relative restrictions such as lower health or stamina.

The two also detailed that despite how parallel the aspect of survival correlates with crafting, that the gameplay mechanic to build weapons and ammunition will not be exclusive to Supernova. Rather that the option will be available for those who want the extra layer of immersion. And of course, this would make sense as Obsidian applied the same mode to Fallout: New Vegas and many could say still holds up for today’s standards.

Previously it was revealed that The Outer Worlds could be dropping sooner than many would guess. Stating from SteamDB that the forthcoming title will drop August 6, 2019. Currently, Obsidian has yet share if that is true or not, so take that information as you may for now. It is confirmed though that the title will be available for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC whenever the game is ready to land.
