Following the game’s release, Forza Horizon 5 was already tracking extremely well on the PlayStation Store. In May, the game was already ranked the best selling release in both US & EU territories. Around the same time, roughly 2 million units were projected in sales on the new platform alone. And in July, Forza Horizon 5 was understood to be one of the most popular releases for 2025 as well on PlayStation 5.

Now in 2026, there has been a follow-up on the progress made by Forza Horizon 5. By Alinea Analytics, analyst Rhys Elliott via a post on X revealed that the game has been a cash cow for Xbox on the PlayStation Store. It was revealed that game has generated roughly $300 million; now up to five million sold copies.

The trajectory certainly is not a surprise. A year before Forza Horizon 5 even released on PlayStation 5, it was already facing major engagement. It was reported the title was already played by over 40 million players then. And, it is considered that number has only grown since then with the help of its popularity alongside the addition of PlayStation users too.

Since then, Microsoft has announced three titles coming to PlayStation 5: Forza Horizon 5, Age Of Mythology: Retold, and Age Of Empire II: Definitive Edition. Forza Horizon 5 in particular stood out as its one of Xbox’s most praised releases. “Forza Horizon 5 is the best game in the franchise, and it also might be the perfect arcade racing game,” our review for the game said.

On Thursday, Playground Games announces Forza Horizon 5 is officially launching on PlayStation 5 come April 29th. The announcement is paired with the new update ‘Horizon Realms’ coming that same week. You can watch the reveal trailer in the video below:

In 2025, it is already confirmed that Indiana Jones and the Great Circle as well as Doom: The Dark Ages are to ship on PlayStation 5. And, more is on the horizon with both Halo: The Master Chief Collection & Microsoft Flight Simulator are coming as well including the forthcoming Nintendo Switch 2. Elsewhere previously, even Forza Horizon 5 was also part of that conversation.

On Thursday, developer Playground Games has confirmed that Forza Horizon 5 will officially release on PlayStation 5 later this spring. More interesting is that while affiliated with both Turn 10 Studios & Playground Games, Panic Button is the game studio leading the development for Forza Horizon 5 on PlayStation 5.

“With nearly 900 cars available in the game, over 40 thematic game updates, two expansions, and so much more content, our team is excited to announce that this spring, PlayStation 5 players will be able to explore Mexico’s beautiful roads and experience the Horizon Festival for the first time as we are officially launching Forza Horizon 5 on PS5.

“In addition to bringing Forza Horizon 5 to PS5, we’re working on a special new free content update for all platforms, Horizon Realms. Realms will give players the chance to explore a curated collection of some of the community’s favorite previously released Evolving Worlds, alongside some other surprises. Rumors have already circulated that Halo: The Master Chief Collection will come to Nintendo’s platform along with PlayStation 5. Last year when Microsoft started to bring games like Sea of Thieves and Hi-Fi Rush to PS5, it won’t be shocking to see one or both of these games coming to the Switch 2.

Here is our list of 5 Xbox games that should be released on the Nintendo Switch 2:

5. Sea of Thieves

It makes perfect sense to see Rare release its latest and biggest game from 2018 to the Nintendo platform. Sea of Thieves probably would have been released on the Switch 1 if it could have handled it. However, this time around we could see the pirate adventure game release within the launch window of the Switch 2. 

When Sea of Thieves came to PlayStation 5, it was a top seller on the PlayStation Store selling over 1 million copies. The more platforms the better when it comes to live-service games like this one. 

4. Forza Horizon 5

At this point, why not? With Microsoft aiming to allow its games to be played everywhere, why not let the Nintendo player base enjoy a different racing game? Take a break from Mario Kart and dive into Forza Horizon 5 arguably the best game in the Forza Horizon series. 

Could the Switch 2 handle the power of Forza Horizon 5? That remains to be seen but could be possible. Microsoft should beat Sony to the punch by adding its premier racing franchise to Nintendo’s platform first.

This was a game that had already been reportedly planned to release on PS5. 

3.  Gears of War

Any Gears of War game would be a great addition to the Switch. It’s preferable to start with the first Gears of War title, but anything can happen. Adding a third-person shooter of this type would not be very kid-friendly but would provide a different taste on the platform than we are used to.

It could help the franchise gain more recognition especially if the Switch 2 does sell nearly 20 million units like they are expecting. 

2. Fallout 4

With Microsoft’s acquisition of Bethesda, they now hold the rights to the Fallout series, including Fallout 4. The recent success of the Fallout TV series has significantly boosted the franchise’s popularity. Therefore, adding Fallout games to the Switch 2 will undoubtedly enhance its appeal.

1. Halo: The Master Chief Collection

There is no other Xbox series that needs the Nintendo Switch 2 than Halo. Halo: The Master Chief Collection should without a doubt release on other consoles. That also includes Halo Infinite, but this allows new players to experience the early days of Halo. This would boost player numbers and add life to the game, which is available only on Xbox consoles and PC.

The Nintendo player base would likely appreciate Halo and Master Chief himself. It’s hard to say without it happening how much of an impact other consoles would have on Halo. However, Halo Studios, formerly 343 Industries, needs to make it happen. This could be Halo’s last hope.

When Halo: MCC first released in 2014 it was broken but Halo Studios worked years to make it work almost flawlessly over the last 5 years.

Much of these additions appear to be notes that the Forza Horizon studio took from Halo Infinite’s Forge Mode, it appears.

This week, Playground Games announced its next major add-on is on the way and is close to arrival. Revealing the ‘Rally Adventure’ DLC, players take to offroad racing in a new setting to experience Sierra Nueva. You can watch the trailer in the video below:

In these modes, compete across dirt, asphalt and challenging night-time scenarios to prove your mastery of all facets of rally driving.” It has been since the first Forza Horizon set in Colorado that revisited Rally racing and it is surely welcomed!

The pack consists of Forza Horizon VIP, Welcome Pass, Car Pass and the expansion bundle. While the image for the first expansion is not on the actual listing, it does remain as the header image on the Steam link page. The first expansion will be Hot Wheels. As you can see from the image below, it lists the Hot Wheels as expansion #1, but no other information is available. Clicking image brings you to the order page for the bundle, but the image is not present here.

In that, those that purchase can gain access four days early to the full game – even before Xbox Game Pass owners. From Twitter user @pr3curs0r, the game already welcomed more than 1 million users before day one. Noted, there were some regions that opened its doors to the game which could inflate that number potentially.

But officially, the launch for Forza Horizon 5 stands to be the most impressive for Xbox Game Pass. From Xbox boss Phil Spencer, the new release arrives with more than 4.5 million players already exploring the new playground from Playground Games.

While numbers were not disclosed previously, the new feat made by Forza Horizon 5 overtakes the previous record set by Gears 5 during its 2019 launch. During that, the newest installment arrived by overtaking the release of Halo 4 which was throned the most successful for Xbox since 2012.
