
The genre that is hero shooter has and continues to appeal to bigger audiences in recent years. Ever since the launch of Overwatch nearly a decade ago, this formula continues to evolve bringing new to the menu. Enough that Blizzard Entertainment & Activision officially shipped out a sequel just a while ago back in 2023.
More recently, reports online are now pointing to a new experience from Valve that expands on this titled Deadlock. Although not officially announced, closed alpha playtests have been underway with thousands on players jumping in to feel the waters of the new game. As of reporting, roughly 90,000 users have played Deadlock according to Steam Charts.
Pulling away the curtain, Valve officially announced Deadlock. With little information provided on the game, there is an official Steam page now live for the new title. You can watch the announcement trailer in the video below:
“Deadlock is in early development with lots of temporary art and experimental gameplay. Access is currently limited to friend invite via our playtesters,” the notice on the Steam page reads for Deadlock. Currently, a release date for Deadlock nor plans for an open beta regarding the new hero shooter has been revealed. But, it is still more to go on than other recent reports.
Although it appears Deadlock is the only project underway at Valve, there appears to be another title in the works. Recently, it was revealed that a new project codenamed ‘Project White Sands’ was revealed in a job listing indicating a new Half-Life game is in development.
