Ubisoft San Francisco has been very silent when it comes to XDefiant as of late after expectations of a late 2023 release failed to happen. Recently it was reported the developers of the upcoming first-person shooter were trying to take features from Call of Duty and that’s the reason it was delayed.
According to XDefiant Executive Producer, Mark Rubin, the delay is still due to tech issues and its gameplay has not changed much since the last time we were able to play.
Just FYI, nothing about our delay is due to any new features. In fact not much has changed from a gameplay standpoint. The delay has been due to the tech issues we've talked about. Whoever said chasing CoD in Tom's report was major eyeroll. 😀

The initial expectation was that XDefiant would be released in late 2023 and a potential release date was going to be October 28, 2023, but obviously, it did not happen.
