Hogwarts Legacy Breaks Records On Steam & Twitch Ahead Of Its Full Release

While the year is still young, many heads are turning to releases that shipped so far. For Xbox recently, Hi-Fi Rush with its shadowdrop in January did just that and many go on to deem it a potential Game of the Year contender. Additionally, the surprise release for Metroid Prime Remastered on Nintendo Switch is doing a similar performance as well this week.

On Friday, Hogwarts Legacy officially arrives and the game appears to be catching everyone’s eye. Despite the outcry towards many of the complaints towards J.K. Rowling and select individuals responsible for the game, the game shatters records online. And this is following the pushed release dates for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and even Nintendo Switch as well.

From Insider Gaming, it is reported that the game is more popular that Fallout 4 – one of the IP’s most influential releases. While Steam Charts does not currently record the concurrent player count for Hogwarts Legacy, the outlet reports around 489,139 players, Fallout 4 is said to be recorded at 472,962 in its peak.

Over on Twitter, the official page for Hogwarts Legacy also shared a new milestone set for the game. In that, it is now ranked #1 in the most viewed single-player release on Twitch. Noted, Hogwarts Legacy is not properly out yet either. Players the pre-ordered the Deluxe Edition were granted three days advanced access to the game. So the masses have yet to properly obtain the game through storefronts & retailers.

Of course, while surprising, is not the first instance a game faced similar success. In November 2021, Forza Horizon 5 met a similar fate ahead of its official release date.
