Former developer at Respawn Entertainment, Mohammad Alavi claimed in an interview with THE BURNETTWORK that Titanfall 3 was in development for 10 months before getting canned.
Mohammad was asked about projects he worked on that have been canceled from missions in Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 and then talks about his Titanfall 3 experience. Here is part of what he said thanks to Insider Gaming:
“We worked on Titanfall 3 for ten months, right? In earnest, right? I mean, we had, like, new tech for it, we had multiple missions going, we had a first playable, which was like, on par to be just as good if not better than whatever we had before, right? But I’ll make this clear—incrementally better, it wasn’t revolutionary.”
It seems that EA wasn’t feeling great about the potential of Titanfall 3 and decided to move toward creating something like Apex Legends.
Alavi goes on to talk about the Titanfall 3 multiplayer and how the team tried to make the experience better compared to Titanfall 2. He goes on talk about how they try to fix the hectic multiplayer experience because it wasn’t something you’d play over and over again.
The Battle Royale genre took over a year after Titanfall 2 released and that seemed to change Respawn Entertainment and EA’s focus. Another canceled Titanfall project that was reported months ago was ‘Titanfall Legends‘ which was going to be a single-player game for Apex Legends.
Respawn has stated multiple times that Titanfall 3 is not in development and that is obviously true.
