Over at PlayStation, the platform is continuing to evolve thanks to the ongoing PlayStation 5 beta program live for the newest console. In a recent update, Sony Interactive Entertainment confirmed that the latest update that went live features new improvements many users were anticipating. For one, you can turn off the power on chime that plays. Additionally, there is also pulse vibration support as well for the home menu as well.

One of the big announcements is official support on the way for Dolby Atmos. Currently, the feature was unique to Xbox owners for quite some time. At launch for the newest Xbox Series X|S, Dolby Atmos was already kitted for the newest Xbox. Now, PlayStation 5 beta members can indulge in the enhanced audio suite as well on the other side of the water.

Elsewhere, there was also an update on the matter too. Titles already primed with PlayStation 5’s 3D Audio is confirmed to also feature support for Dolby Atmos, said PlayStation sound design supervisor Loïc Couthier.

Looking ahead for the platform, the PlayStation 5 is standing to continue being one of the fast-selling systems ever. Just this past month, it was confirmed that the PlayStation 5 sold more than 40 million units. For only releasing under three years ago now, this is milestone that has yet to be met for hardware prior to the PlayStation 5.

Additionally, Sony Interactive Entertainment is taking advantage of this current shopping climate with back-to-school on the rise leading into the fall. It was announced recently that a new PlayStation Back-to-School event is live on Best Buy, Amazon, Walmart, GameStop, Target and PS Direct. You can read the full report by heading here.
