Amid the previous Bethesda acquisition years back, the concern at the time were what games would be exclusive and wouldn’t following the $8 billion purchase by Microsoft. And while select games did hit PlayStation due to legal marketing agreements, titles such as Starfield, Redfall, and Hi-Fi Rush were only on Xbox. Initially, it was told titles would be considered on a “case-by-case” basis to determine where new games would arrive.

Concerning Indiana Jones, the game was originally expected to be a multiplatform release. However, this intention took a new form with Indiana Jones later revealed to be exclusive to Xbox. To add to this matter, a document as per the more recent Microsoft V. FTC hearings revealed the entire deal for Zenimax Media was to solely bolster Xbox’s first-party lineup ultimately.

And came the recent Xbox Developer_Direct, Indiana Jones And The Great Circle will be on Xbox for its only console release. According to an interview with Axios Gaming, Disney does not believe its decision to allow the launch for the coming Lucasfilm Games release to be greatly “exclusionary” based on the decision made then.

“Xbox still being one of the bigger marketplaces for games, we didn’t feel like we were going to be overly exclusionary. We felt like it’s still going to reach a broad set of folks, and we felt, financially and strategically for the game, that made sense at the time”. Disney head of gaming Sean Shoptaw told the outlet in the interview.

But perhaps this is a concern now and not later. While titles like Hi-Fi Rush did launch first on Xbox, new reports tell that the game is expected to hit Nintendo Switch sometime in early 2024. You can read the full report by heading here.
