Playground Games Confirms PlayStation 5 Version Of Forza Horizon 5 Coming Spring 2025

The current structure for consoles is shifting as platform exclusives are now entertaining more open releases. For PlayStation, the firm has continued to release its titles periodically on PC after its time on PlayStation 5. And while Xbox has been practicing this for a decade already, it is now moving its titles to competing hardware too. In a recent interview, Xbox boss Phil Spencer explained there is no red line for any Xbox-owned IP to be kept from this new effort.

In 2025, it is already confirmed that Indiana Jones and the Great Circle as well as Doom: The Dark Ages are to ship on PlayStation 5. And, more is on the horizon with both Halo: The Master Chief Collection & Microsoft Flight Simulator are coming as well including the forthcoming Nintendo Switch 2. Elsewhere previously, even Forza Horizon 5 was also part of that conversation.

On Thursday, developer Playground Games has confirmed that Forza Horizon 5 will officially release on PlayStation 5 later this spring. More interesting is that while affiliated with both Turn 10 Studios & Playground Games, Panic Button is the game studio leading the development for Forza Horizon 5 on PlayStation 5.

“With nearly 900 cars available in the game, over 40 thematic game updates, two expansions, and so much more content, our team is excited to announce that this spring, PlayStation 5 players will be able to explore Mexico’s beautiful roads and experience the Horizon Festival for the first time as we are officially launching Forza Horizon 5 on PS5.

“In addition to bringing Forza Horizon 5 to PS5, we’re working on a special new free content update for all platforms, Horizon Realms. Realms will give players the chance to explore a curated collection of some of the community’s favorite previously released Evolving Worlds, alongside some other surprises. […] Wishlist Forza Horizon 5 on the PlayStation Store today to stay informed about updates and release times.”
