The itch for competitive first-person shooters can always be scratched in today’s current market. From Call of Duty to Battlefield and even Apex Legends, there is an absorbent amount of variety in the genre. But, you can expect more titles to also come from the same avenues or smaller ventures from time to time as well. Now insert Wildlight Entertainment.
The fresh game studio comprised of former Respawn Entertainment developers during the closing segment for 2025’s The Game Awards announced Highguard – a spell-infused, arcane first-person shooter. Even more, the game is to release just over a month away. You can watch the reveal trailer in the video below:
“From the creators of Apex Legends and Titanfall, comes Highguard: a PvP raid shooter where players will ride, fight, and raid as Wardens, arcane gunslingers sent to fight for control of a mythical continent,” the overview for the new shooter reads. “Battle rival Warden crews for possession of the Shieldbreaker, then break into and destroy the enemy base to secure territory in this all-new breed of shooter.”
Via the trailer’s YouTube description, Highguard is also regarded as: “There they’ll clash against rival Warden crews for possession of the Shieldbreaker, then break into and destroy the enemy base to secure territory in this all-new breed of shooter.” Unlike previously working on Apex Legends, it appears Highguard will be a premium release and not a free-to-play experience.
