Discover everything you need to know about the best class tier list in Diablo IV: Lord of Hatred to find out the strongest characters.

A class is the type of character you choose to play, and it defines how you fight and what abilities you use in Diablo IV: Lord of Hatred. When you start the game, you select one class for your character to determine your skills, weapons, and combat style. You cannot change your class later on that character, so choosing the best class is a crucial decision in the game. Warlock and Paladin are the best classes to choose in our class tier list due to their powerful skills, effective abilities, and easy playstyle. We bring the best class tier list to help you choose the best class before starting your journey in Diablo IV: Lord of Hatred.

Best Class Tier List in Diablo IV

Below is the best class tier list for Diablo IV Lord of Hatred.

Tier Classes
S-Tier Warlock, Paladin
A-Tier Necromancer, Barbarian, Sorcerer, Druid
B-Tier Spiritborn, Rogue

S-Tier

Classes in this tier are the best and most effective ones to choose in Diablo IV: Lord of Hatred. These are the new classes added in the expansion, and much more powerful than the previous ones.

Warlock

The Warlock is a brand-new playable class introduced in the Lord of Hatred expansion. Players from this class are dark magic caster who uses demons, hellfire, and shadow powers. Warlock uses forbidden magic to weaponize Hell itself. The Warlock uses two unique resources, like Wrath and Dominance. Wrath is used for casting spells, while Dominance is used for summoning and controlling demons. This is not a simple spam class – it’s combo-based, which focuses on summoning a demon, modifying, and sacrificing.

The Warlock

You spawn multiple demons and sacrifice them for buffs. While focusing on Shadowform & stealth, the burst damage comes with abilities like Dread Claws. You transform into a demon and fight in melee range with enemies. Warlock focuses more on Wrath generation skills and uses basic summons to tank damage. Choose a core shard to define your playstyle and add fragments to modify abilities and stats.

Paladin

The Paladin is a holy warrior class added in the Lord of Hatred expansion that combines melee combat, support, and defensive abilities. This faith-powered knight uses holy light, auras, and heavy weapons. You channel divine energy to boost attacks, protect allies, and empower abilities. Paladin builds revolve around Oaths like Arbiter, Zealot, Judicator, and Juggernaut. Players from this class can transform into an Angelic Form to gain increased speed, enhanced abilities, and massive burst damage.

The Paladin

Paladin activates Aura before engaging enemies and uses Hammer or Shield as a main damage skill. You use defensive skills like barrier and block to avoid taking hits from the enemies. Use Condemn to group enemies and spam your main attack. Get a mercenary early for extra power and focus on survivability first. At around level 15, you unlock Oaths to choose different playstyles like Juggernaut, Zeolot, Judicator, and Arbiter. Focus on angel transformation and combine mobility with the burst damage. You must stay close enough for auras and don’t overextend.

A-Tier

Classes are stronger and more powerful in Diablo IV: Lord of Hatred, but have complex, unique mechanics and playstyle. They have some minor limitations due to some new changes.

Necromancer

Necromancer is a dark summoner and spellcaster in Diablo IV: Lord of Hatred. It can control undead armies, blood magic, bone magic, and shadow curses. Players from this class fight using the power of death itself. Necromancer uses two key resources, such as Essence and Corpses. Essence is the main mana for casting skills, while Corpses are the dead enemies used for abilities. You use Corpses to summon skeletons, trigger explosions, and power abilities.

The Necromancer

You can also sacrifice minions to gain buffs and customize your undead army. Gain bonus stats by sacrificing a golem, and gain an army by keeping the minions. Necromancer uses curses like Decrepify and Iron Maiden to weaken enemies and control fights. You must use Raise Skeleton immediately and build a small undead army. The goal is to focus on minions and stay behind the frontline to let them tank. Skeletons can be auto-generated from corpses, letting you control large armies up to 28 minions with hear. Minion builds take 3 skill slots, so you must balance army strength and personal damage.

Barbarian

The Barbarian is a brutal warrior who fights up close using raw strength, heavy weapons, and rage. They are easy to play and have deeper optimization later. You focus more on jumping into enemies, smashing them, and surviving through toughness. Barbarians use Fury instead of mana, and basic skills generate Fury, which slowly drains when out of combat. Your goal is to hit enemies to build Fury, and then spend it to unleash strong attacks. You can equip 4 weapons at once, and skills automatically switch weapons depending on use.

The Barbarian

Each weapon type gains experience when you use it, letting you unlock unique bonuses or buffs. Barbarian has powerful Shout skills that boost damage, increase defense, and remove crowd control. You must always stay close to enemies and group enemies together to use powerful AoE attacks. Fighting from afar can leave you vulnerable to enemy attacks.

Upgrade all 4 weapons to benefit from all of them and learn weapon swapping. Strength, Willpower, and Dexterity are the best stats to focus on to become a powerful Barbarian in Diablo IV. However, you can feel slow in the early game and gear-dependent.

Sorcerer

Sorcerer is a ranged magic caster who uses powerful elemental spells to destroy enemies from a safe distance. You cast spells and control enemies by dealing fire, ice, and lightning-based damage. Use the magic to destroy enemies while avoiding getting hit. Unlike Barbarian, you use Mana instead of Fury to cast spells in combat. Mana regenerates automatically over time, so wait for it to fill up before engaging in any fight.

The Sorcerer

Sorcerer uses 3 types of magic (Fire + Ice + Lightning), each with unique effects. The fire damage lets you burn enemies and deal serious sustained damage. Ice damage can slow enemies, freezing them, making it great for crowd control. Lightning damage has fast attacks and reduces cooldowns.

The enchantment system is what makes the Sorcerer special and unlocks at levels 15 & 30. Use basic skills to build small damage and defensive skills for survivability. Maintain a good distance from enemies and use movement skills. Intelligence, Willpower, and Dexterity are the best stats to invest your points in if you want to use a Sorcerer. However, they are very fragile, require good positioning, and need mana management.

Druid

Druid is a hybrid class in Diablo IV that combines shapeshifting, elemental damage, and animal companions. The game lets you switch between melee beast forms, cast magic, and summon allies. Druids use Spirit instead of Mana or Rage, and basic skills generate Spirit. Attacking enemies lets you build Spirit and use it for powerful skills.

The Druid

Druid can transform into Werebear and Werewolf during combat to tackle enemies. Werebear are tanky and slow, but gear for survivability, while Werewolves have aggressive attacks and high attack speed. Skills automatically shift your form when used, so you don’t manually transform. Druids can also cast powerful spells like Earth skills (Crushing Blow) and Storm skills (Apply Vulnerable).

Spirit Boons is the Druid’s special system that unlocks at level 15, letting you choose Spirit Animals. Each gives passive bonuses like additional damage and survivability. You can play both melee and ranged by picking one playstyle early. Willpower, Strength, and Intelligence are the best stats to focus on for the Druid class. This class is complex to learn and requires good synergy.

B-Tier

Complicated classes in our tier list that are not very effective and powerful, but good to choose if you want to learn the game’s mechanics. They are weaker and situational, so you can’t use them properly in the late game.

Spiritborn

The Spiritborn is a fast, melee martial-artist class that channels animal spirit powers in Diablo IV. You combine speed, combos, and spirit powers while fighting like a monk-style warrior. Use Vigor as a main resource and spend it on stronger abilities. This can be generated through attacks and combos, letting you unleash powerful attacks. Jaguar, Eagle, Gorilla, and Centipede are the 4 Spirit Guardians of this class that let you create your build. Many skills chain into 3-hit combos, and attacks are fluid and acrobatic.

The Spiritborn

I recommend focusing on timing and movement to dominate enemies in combat. This makes this class feel very different from slower classes like Barbarian. Spirit Hall is a special system for Spiritborn that unlocks a second slot at level 30 to increase damage, improve survivability, and change skills’ behavior. Make sure to use mobility skills to dodge attacks and combo skills to deal damage.

Stay close but mobile and avoid getting surrounded because you’re not a pure tank. Dexterity, Strength, and Willpower are the best stats to focus on for the Spiritborn. Use Spirit Hall bonuses quickly and learn combos early to define your damage.

Rogue

The Rogue is a fast, agile hybrid class that can fight both in melee and ranged combat. This class lets you dash in, deal damage, and escape before enemies can react to your attacks. You have high DPS and mobility to switch between melee and ranged combat freely. Rogue uses Energy that regenerates automatically over time. Make sure to fight up close with dual blades and attack from range with bows. The game automatically switches weapons based on the skill you use.

The Rogue

Rogue’s unique mechanic is Specializations, that unlocks at level 15 with three different types available. Rogue can imbue attacks with elements like Poison, Shadow, and Cold, allowing you to change how your skills behave completely. Standing still can get you surrounded, leading you into trouble.

You must attack, move, and attack again to dominate enemies in a tough encounter. Use stealth before engaging and attack from sides or behind. Use Combo Points specialization early and keep a mobility skill equipped. This class is fragile, requires skill and timing, and can be complex for beginners.

Hi, I’m Ali. I started gaming with Max Payne, and it set the tone for my interest in darker, more immersive experiences. I mostly play soulslikes, RPGs, and FPS titles that focus on tight mechanics and pacing.

I have a strong appreciation for game soundtracks and how they shape the overall experience. I’m also a long-time horror fan, across both games and films, with a preference for atmosphere-driven storytelling. This space reflects that passion, exploring games through both their mechanics and the atmosphere they create.
